Together with the live video artist A-li-ce, I was invited by the video art residency of Bandits-Mages and the national French archive Centre CICLIC to compose an archive-based live cinema performance.
Already before our departure to France, we had watched round about 4000 archived and digitised family and amateur films of the last century. In our residency at Bandits-Mages, we finally selected, cut and put more than 2000 video and sound samples together to create our new performance INTRUDERS.
Just like the visuals, which A-li-ce mixes live exclusively from archive material, the music was created solely from sound samples from the music library, which are played with the help of self-made instruments. Only a part of the drums and the subbass were added.
After 14 days of production, we are looking now forward to finally premiere it on 8th April 2014 at 8:45 pm in the Cinéma Apollo (4 rue Albert 1er 36000 Châteauroux).
